BRUCLEAR

Background:
Brucellosis is highly zoonotic endemic disease-causing abortion and infertility in livestock, resulting in severe economic loss to livestock owners. The major cause of abortion in small ruminants is brucellosis and it affects the reproductive tract sometimes leading to infertility. The major clinical feature of brucellosis is retention of placenta, orchitis and epididymitis, arthritis, and the major public health hazard is the excretion of the Brucella spp in discharges and milk of Brucella infected animal:
The problems of Brucellosis in unorganized small ruminants: The Brucella positive goats would be threat to other animals in the herd as well as with those sharing the grazing area. In field conditions, these Brucella carriers often goes undetected as it would be next to impossible to screen all the goats raised in unorganized flocks country-wide posing a public health risk:
Several indigenous plants are capable of interfering with the survival mechanism of the bacteria, optimizing the redox potential and anti-inflammatory activity for facilitating the phagocytic killing of bacteria, thereby reducing the brucella load in the animal body and its discharges:
Technology Details:
Supplementation of the diet of goats for 15 days before breeding with BRUCLEAR (one bolus of 5 grams daily), a crude herbal mixture made from two indigenous plants is effective in significant reduction in shedding in Brucella positive animals. In addition to this, it also reduces the proinflammatory cytokines and improvement in overall health of the animal:
The formulation is economical, easy to administer and can reduce the animal discomfort with no side effects. By using it, the farmers save on the loss incurred due to culling of brucella positive animals and cost of veterinary interventions for handling brucellosis and abortions. As it also serves as an immunomodulator, it can also reduce the incidence of other infectious and non-infectious disease and the overall management cost of rearing:
The formulation can also be used in large ruminants with a dose of 2 bolus per day for 15 days
